Colinas de São Lourenço Bairrada Red 2019
This excellent red wine from Sao Lourenco gives the classic wine of Bairrada a modern twist. The traditional grape of Touriga Nacional is blended with the modern varieties of Syrah and Merlot to give a wine which is full bodied and full flavoured with notes of blackberry, black cherry and redcurrant with ripe tannins and balanced acidity. Enjoy this with a hearty beef stew or some serious hard cheeses. Bordeaux lovers are sure to enjoy this bottle.
Colinas de São Lourenço is the flagship property in this region, located in the small village of São Lourenço do Bairro. Bairrada is a coastal region with a moderate Atlantic climate, that develops into gentle hills of limestone, clay soils. It is due to the climate and similar soil that the area is often compared with the world-famous region of Bordeaux. Here in Bairrada, the native and international grape varieties combine to produce standout still, and sparkling wines, from the terroirs that are regarded as among the best in Portugal.
